Stress can be managed by developing specific skills. Not all stress relief methods will work for every person and some methods may take a few weeks before it feels "right." Develop your own stress management plan by following these suggestions:
  1. Determine the main source(s) of your stress.
  2. Identify alternatives for reducing the stressor and/or coping with it more effectively. (remember it is unhealthy to attempt to eliminate all stress.)
  3. Identify what you've already tried before and determine how well it worked, or if it didn't work.
  4. Assess your current strengths, resources, and abilities to cope.
  5. Select and implement an option that will best help you cope with stress.
  6. Do it! No one can cope for you!
  7. Evaluate your plan. Determine if your stress management strategy is working for you.
